World Literature Honors English II
Professional and Educational Qualifications
I have held National Board Certification in English and Language Arts for Adolescents and Young Adults. Currently I hold a permanent teaching certificate for K-12 Reading, 7-12 English and Language Arts and believe it or not 7-12 Biology. I also hold a Supervisor License with concentration in reading curriculum. With 28 years of teaching experience, I serve as Language Arts Lead Teacher in the Emerson Group at SCESC and serve as English Department Chairperson for Louisville High School. I completed my undergraduate and graduate study at The University of Akron. In addition, I have earned thirty plus hours from The University of Cincinnati, Kent State University, Ashland University, and Antioch University. I completed an Advanced Placement Literature and Composition workshop previously at Ball State University. I am also involved with Louisville's Educator Advancement Program for resident educators as the Lead Mentor, and have received training in the Ohio Teacher Evaluation System. I continue my commitment to collaborate with educators to achieve best practices in teaching performance for the best interests of my students.
Just so you know, if I hadn't become a teacher, I would have pursued nursing and in
fact have worked previously as a midwife's aide. On a personal note, I live in Millersburg on our family farm in Amish country, where we raise Shorthorn Beef Cattle. Calving season for us is fall and winter, my favorite times of the school year. I always look forward to the first snowflakes. To every thing there is a season. Let this year be your season for reading and writing.
Looking forward to a new year and the next student,
Denise A. Mast
